Always on my Mind…

We have all been thinking about change lately…the times they are a-changin, a change will do you good, etc. I think the most relevant change cliche for these days is the more things change, the more things stay the same. This includes the BRAIN, where change is the name of the game. Did you know that we often feature resources based on current happenings in the college and around the world? For instance, we have created website resource pages on hot topics such as the Olympic Games, and Disability Resources for Disability Awareness Week. You will often find links to these hot-topic pages near the bottom of the BRAIN homepage, highlighted in red, under Find Help Fast.

If you have any suggestions for upcoming resource pages, please let us know!

Something else that is on just about every teacher and students mind is web resource credibility. Here at the Library @ Mohawk, we work hard to link you to current, reliable information that is pertinent to your field (via BRAINlinks!) Soon youll have more help: Internet Detective is an eLearning tutorial that teaches critical evaluation of information found on the Internet. The tutorial will be launched in June 2006, and it will be freely available for anyone to use. When the time comes, you can be sure that your Library Staff will check it out, and well link you if its a useful tool.

Take care of yourselves out there, and remember, if its on your mind, its on the BRAIN.

Theres no doubt that information technology has transformed the classroom in many positive ways, but it has also raised a lot of issues. If you have questions about using digital technology in your program, then check out The EDUCAUSE Resource Center. Its a repository for information concerning the use and management of information technology in higher education. Resources include information about professional development activities, applied research, strategic policy advocacy, teaching and learning initiatives, online information services, print and electronic publications, special interest collaborative communities and awards for leadership and exemplary practices. Information is available in the form of articles, books, conference sessions, contracts, effective practices, plans, policies and position descriptions. They even feature blog content, and we know how much you love your blogs!

Though the world of information and technology is more complicated than ever, were always eager to help you navigate it. Here at the Library @ Mohawk, we have access to thousands of digitized books, just waiting for you to explore them. Click here to access our e-book collections. Youll find them categorized by database name, but even more importantly, weve listed each databases subject covered to assist you in your search for the perfect resource:
