They do at a Human Library!
What is a Human Library? A Human Library is an event put on at a library – you can “check out” a human book and have a conversation. The idea is to learn about a person’s life or particular experience in the hope that you will gain new perspective and understanding. Want to learn more about the events of September 11th from someone who lived and worked in Washington and was there that day? Want to talk to someone who has climbed Mount Everest? How about talking to Brantford’s Poet Laureate? If the answer is yes, then come out to our Human Library and help us celebrate Public Library Week with Brantford Public Library at their main branch on Colborne Street on October 18th, 19th and 20th.
You can place a hold on a book ahead of time or just drop in and browse. For more information and to see the complete list of Human Books available, go to the Brantford Public Library website.
