School is almost out for summer: Time to play !

It would be wonderful if children could play freely outside all the time; however, before the school year ends, parents must make a plan to keep their children occupied and safe during the summer months.

If you are home with the kids this summer and need some fun ideas to keep them busy, have a look at some of the PLAY resources we have in the library. Or, if summer camp is on your child’s horizon, why not check out some of these camp options:

The Mohawk College Summer Camp is hosting an Open House today from 6 PM – 8 PM at the Fennell Campus in Portable 11, F-Wing.  Come and learn more about the programs being offered this summer.  For more information call (905) 575-2062 or email Camp.

The City of Hamilton’s Summer Recreation Programs offer 70 locations across Hamilton, Stoney Creek, Dundas, Waterdown, Binbrook, and Ancaster.  They provide community centre camp locations offering full day,  week-long,  traditional day camp programs, and drop-in programs at their SUPIE park programs at community parks.

If you’re thinking about a residential camp and not sure what type of camp to choose, check out Canadian Camping Association’s Steps in Selecting a Suitable Camp to guide you through the process.
