BRIC: R is for Russia

bricAll eyes are on Russia these days as we follow the triumphs and trials of our Olympic athletes.   For a few years now, the country has been considered an emerging economy, part of the so called BRIC group which also includes Brazil, India and China.    Jim O’Neill, formerly of Goldman Sachs, coined the BRIC term and wrote this book, available in the Cummings Library.

Those  spectacular views of the Sochi area, Red Square in Moscow and the fabulous architecture of St. Petersburg might have you thinking about working in Russia or doing business there.  Our Business Source Premier database has a terrific collection of regularly updated country profiles.   Start your research with this one about Russia and the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

You’ll need to make your move quickly!  O’Neill has forecast that the MINT economies (Mexico, Indonesia, Nigeria, and Turkey) could replace the BRICs soon!
