In the city: Hamilton International Guitar Festival

This weekend the Hamilton Conservatory for the Arts will be hosting the Hamilton International Guitar Festival.  In its third year, the festival brings faculty and students together to celebrate the guitar.  The festivities begin Friday, June 20, at 8 p.m. with a concert by Canadian guitarist Jérôme Ducharme.  The weekend festivial also includes more concerts, workshops, and competitions.  For detailed information about the festival visit the Guitar Hamilton website, or read this article from The Hamilton Spectator.

If you are looking for musical inspiration, look no further!  The Mohawk College Library has a music subject guide that includes books, e-books, journals, musical scores, and websites.  Every musician needs a little help sometimes – even Sting.  In this recent TED Talk, How I started writing songs again, the composer and singer explains how and where he found inspiration.  You can find more great videos like this on the videos page of the subject guide.

Are you attending any of the concerts, or participating in the competition this weekend?  Tell us all about your experience at the Hamilton International Guitar Festival.
