November 6th to 12th is MRT week in Canada. Not to be confused with “Mr. T”, the big guy with the funky coif and gold jewellery who started every sentence with … “I pity the fool …”. Rather, MRTs, medical radiation technologists, are allied health professionals who provide patient care in the practice of radiological technology, radiation therapy, nuclear medicine and magnetic resonance imaging. Their contribution to the delivery and quality of healthcare in Canada is both significant and essential. They provide imaging and radiation-related treatment services using the most up-to-date medical diagnostic and treatment technologies available. And …most importantly…we train MRTs at Mohawk in our unique Medical Radiation Sciences program, a successful collaboration with McMaster University which gains graduates both a diploma and a degree. To learn more about the profession and the important role of Canada’s MRTs visit www.imageofcare.ca. These guys (and gals!) are no fools!
